The school began its existence in a rented building with thirty-three students in 1980. The very next year the number of students swelled to more than 300. By 1995, the school was able to build its own school building in Saraswati Nagar.[4]
At present, the school consists of two administrative and academic units: St. Anne's School at Saraswati Nagar has more than 3000 students; St. Anne's Prep School in Rajeev Nagar, less than a kilometer away, has approximately 1200 students. Saraswati Nagar and Rajeev Nagar are on the outskirts of the expanding city of Jodhpur. The two campuses have been carefully designed: the originally bare lands of the campus have growing trees and large lawns.[4]
The campus includes a quadrangle, a playground, two basketball courts, two volleyball courts and a parking lot for students and teachers.
The campus is divided into two wings – the Junior Wing (classes III to V) and the Senior Wing (classes VI to XII).
The campus provides the students many facilities which include – Science Labs, Maths Lab and Computer Labs , an Audio-Visual Room, an E-Beam, two Reading Halls, an Auditorium, a Sports Room and newly renovated rooms for Yoga and Work Education.
The academic structure of the St. Anne's school is organised to encourage interaction among the students, between the students and teachers, and among the students, teachers and the management. There are regular parent–teacher meetings to encourage the cooperation of the students, teachers and the parents for the development of the students. The distribution of work among the management members prevents any rigid vertical hierarchical structure, which has been considered integral to the working of the school.
Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities are a part of a student's time in the school. Child craft exhibitions, science exhibitions, quiz contests, English and Hindi debates, recitation contests, fêtes, sports festivals and Annual Day Celebrations have a significant role in the schooling of children in St. Anne's. [5]
A printing press has made possible the printing of material for academic purposes, as well as facilitated the publication of a fortnightly newspaper. The St. Anne's Newsline is meant to develop the writing ability of the students. There are two well-equipped laboratories. The school's cooling plants provide pure and cold water, and its canteen, a variety of snacks and drinks.
The students of St. Anne's have achieved high marks in the Board Examinations and a very large number of them have qualified for higher professional training. It has done well in the inter-school contests, both in academic and in extra- and co-curricular competitions. In fact, the school has received awards for being the best school in the city for a number of years. Many of its students are now successful technologists and managers working with big national and multi-national organisations in India and abroad.
Sport in St. Anne's takes place generally in year groups, for pastoral and sporting competition purposes, the school is divided into Four houses. Each student is assigned to a house at the start of his or her time in the school and will, usually, remain in that house for the whole of their school career. Currently the houses comprise
